Get a sneak peek at the top Fall Winter 2017/18 looks with The Reveal, FFANY’s new trend area which debuted at the recent New York Shoe Expo. Curated by Jenn Rogien, costume designer for HBO’s “Girls” and Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black,” The Reveal presents seven of the most important footwear trends for next season.
The trends focused on innovations in footwear technology, mixed materials, unique soles, texture, artistic embellishments, fantastical designs from the runway and updated classic fall silhouettes in fresh, new colorways.
KEY TRENDS SNAPSHOT:
is a color story highlighting the “best of” the fall/winter 17/18 color themes that are fashion-forward in style and silhouette.
showcases the best of the opulent, adorned, bejeweled and sculptured footwear available.
the truly avant-garde of footwear design, these (un)wearable art pieces include shoes that spark the imagination and push the limits.
mixed media is all about the mash-up.
focuses on the bottom of the shoe—the cool, interesting, and functional.
highlighting the use of technology in footwear, these styles incorporate emerging technologies and new materials.
texture is all about footwear that makes us want to touch and wear it.
Trends were presented in a gallery-like space both digitally and physically using samples and images submitted by FFANY members. The installation was unveiled on the opening day of the New York Shoe Expo on Nov. 30 with a VIP and press reception hosted by Rogien.
